Q: How are soft allocations handled for "on-hold" projects in Rocketlane, and how do they impact total allocated hours?

A: In Rocketlane, both soft and hard allocations contribute to the total allocated hours shown in the Resource Management tab. If you wish to exclude soft allocations from affecting team member utilization, you can enable the "Ignore soft allocations" option located in the top right corner of the Resource Management tab. This setting will adjust the team member utilization metrics accordingly without removing the soft allocation hours from the overall total.

Q: Can Rocketlane accommodate holiday calendars and individual time off, and does it support automatic task rescheduling?

A: Yes, Rocketlane allows you to set up holiday calendars and apply individual time off. Once configured, these will automatically appear on the respective dates within the Resource Management section, helping you visualize team availability. However, tasks scheduled during these periods will be highlighted and require manual rescheduling to begin after the individual's return.

Regarding integration with third-party HR systems like Freshteam for automatic time-off syncing, Rocketlane can explore this possibility. If you have such a need, you'll need to provide your specific use case to determine if a solution can be built via integration platforms like Workato or Zapier.

Q: How can we allocate time for recurring activities and ad hoc tasks not tied to specific projects?

A: To effectively track time spent on general internal activities such as stand-up meetings, documentation, or general support that aren't linked to specific project deliverables, you can create a dedicated non-billable project. For example, name it "Internal Activities" and add relevant tasks within it. You can then assign team members to these tasks with allocated hours, allowing you to capture time spent on routine work without impacting specific project budgets.
