To maintain accurate financial tracking, revenue logging, and cost analysis, time entries in Rocketlane need to be mapped directly to specific project budgets. This guide covers how to configure time tracking restrictions for your team, log hours against a selected budget within your timesheet, and understand how default project budgets help streamline the process.

Time Tracking with Budgets

Time entries need to be associated with budgets for accurate revenue and cost.

Configure Time Tracking Restrictions

  1. Open time tracking settings.

  2. Turn on restrictions such as:

    • Team members can track time only for projects they are part of.

    • Team members can track time only for budgets they are part of.

Create Time Entries

  1. Open Timesheets.

  2. Select the project.

  3. Optionally select a task.

  4. Select the budget, or accept the prefilled budget when:

    • A default project budget exists, and no task level budget overrides it, or

    • The task or phase has only one budget assigned.

  5. Enter the number of hours.

  6. Submit the entry.

If a user is not a member of a budget, that budget does not appear as a selectable option.
