Rocketlane allows you to align reporting with your organization’s true fiscal calendar, ensuring quarterly reports are easy to consume without manually applying date filters. This article explains how to configure a custom start month and its impact on your workspace analytics.

Many organizations follow a fiscal year that starts in February, April, or another month, rather than January. When the fiscal year does not match the calendar year, default calendar based quarters can make reporting confusing.

By configuring a custom fiscal year in Rocketlane:

  • Quarters in all the reports will automatically align with the organization’s actual fiscal calendar

Once the fiscal year start month is set, Rocketlane uses that configuration across reports and analytics that rely on fiscal periods.

Setting Up a Custom Fiscal Year

To configure a custom fiscal year start month in Rocketlane:

  1. Log in as an administrator and navigate to the profile icon in the bottom left corner of the screen and select Settings.

  2. Under the Account section, Click Preferences.

  3. In the Organization calendar section, click Change.

  4. In the Set fiscal year start modal, select the organization’s fiscal year start month from the dropdown.

Rocketlane then updates the fiscal calendar for the account.

Note: This configuration typically requires an admin or a user responsible for managing account-level preferences.

When to Use a Custom Fiscal Year

Examples:

  • A company with a fiscal year starting in February

  • A company using an April to March fiscal year

  • Any organization that defines Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 based on a custom start month
