Connect Gong to Rocketlane to bring eligible Gong recordings into Meeting Intelligence. Captured conversations can be accessed from meeting pages and used with features such as AI Fills and Signals, depending on the meeting and your account configuration.

Gong can operate alongside Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and the Rocketlane AI Notetaker. Connecting Gong does not require you to select it as the only recording source for your Rocketlane account.

How the Gong Integration Works

After Gong is connected, Rocketlane retrieves completed meeting recordings from the connected Gong account through Gong's API. No Rocketlane bot is required for Gong recording retrieval.

The Gong connection applies to the connected Gong account rather than only to users who also have Rocketlane licences. This allows Rocketlane to retrieve eligible Gong calls for people who are not Rocketlane team members.

After a meeting is retrieved:

  1. Rocketlane creates a meeting page for the captured meeting.
  2. Rocketlane classifies the meeting as internal or customer-facing.
  3. For customer meetings, Rocketlane attempts to associate the meeting with the appropriate company.
  4. AI Fills and Signals run according to their respective configurations and eligibility rules.
NoteMeeting pages are available for all captured meetings, including meetings that are not associated with a customer. Signals require an eligible customer meeting associated with a company.

Before You Begin

Ensure that:

  • Meeting Intelligence is enabled in Rocketlane.
  • You have administrator access in Rocketlane.
  • You have administrator access to the Gong account you want to connect.
  • The relevant calls are being recorded and are available in Gong.
  • The Gong users and workspaces whose calls should be available are covered by the connected Gong account and its access configuration.
  • Customer contacts and company website information are maintained in Rocketlane to support meeting matching.
NoteThe people whose Gong recordings are retrieved do not need Rocketlane licences solely for recording ingestion. Any Gong licence or access requirements continue to be determined by your Gong account configuration.

Connect Gong to Rocketlane

To connect Gong:

  1. Sign in to Rocketlane as an administrator.
  2. Go to Settings > Meeting Intelligence > Setup & recording.
  3. Find Gong under Cloud recording sources.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. Sign in to the Gong account you want to connect.
  6. Review the permissions requested by Rocketlane.
  7. Click Authorize to complete the connection.

Once authorization is complete, Gong appears as a connected recording source in Rocketlane.

NoteConnecting Gong is an account-level action. The authorized connection is used to retrieve eligible calls from the connected Gong account.

Which Gong Recordings Are Retrieved?

Rocketlane can retrieve eligible calls available through the connected Gong account, including calls belonging to people who are not Rocketlane team members.

The person who hosted or participated in the Gong call does not need:

  • A Rocketlane licence solely for ingestion.
  • A Google Calendar or Outlook connection in Rocketlane.
  • The Rocketlane AI Notetaker to have attended the meeting.

Rocketlane uses participant and meeting information received from Gong to classify each meeting and associate customer meetings with companies.

A meeting can be associated with a customer using information such as:

  • Exact participant email matches with known contacts.
  • Participant domains that match known customer contacts.
  • Participant domains that match company website URLs.
  • Company names that match participant domains.

If Rocketlane cannot identify one customer confidently, the meeting remains unassociated. Its meeting page is still available, but it does not generate customer Signals until it is associated with a company.

Use Gong with Other Recording Sources

Gong can remain connected while other cloud recording sources and the Rocketlane AI Notetaker are enabled.

For example, your sales team can continue using Gong while your implementation team uses the Rocketlane AI Notetaker. Both recording methods can operate at the same time, and meetings from each source can be brought into Rocketlane.

You can also connect Gong alongside Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet if different teams use different platforms.

NoteIf the same meeting is received through more than one configured source, you do not need to disable or disconnect either source.

Retrieve Historical Gong Recordings

When historical recording retrieval is enabled, Rocketlane can search the connected Gong account for eligible earlier conversations.

Historical retrieval can run when:

  • Gong is connected as a new cloud recording source.
  • Historical retrieval is enabled for the first time.
  • The configured historical retrieval period is changed.
  • A new customer company is created in Rocketlane.

When a new customer is created, Rocketlane searches for historical calls that match the company's contacts, participant domains, website information, or company name.

To review or change this behavior, go to Settings > Meeting Intelligence > Setup & recording and find the historical recording retrieval settings.

NoteHistorical retrieval is limited by the period configured in Meeting Intelligence. When retrieval is triggered by the creation of a new customer, Rocketlane uses the configured period up to the supported limit for new-customer retrieval.

Use Gong Recordings with AI Fills

Once a Gong call has been captured, team members can use it with AI Fills according to the configured AI Fills meeting scope.

AI Fills can generate content such as:

  • Meeting summaries
  • Follow-up emails
  • Action items
  • Decisions and next steps
  • Project updates
  • Project documents
  • Internal notes

AI Fills can also be configured to process internal meetings. This setting is managed under Settings > Meeting Intelligence > AI Fills.

For instructions on creating templates and generating content, refer to Create and Use AI Fills.

Disconnect Gong from Rocketlane

To stop Rocketlane from retrieving new Gong recordings:

  1. Go to Settings > Meeting Intelligence > Setup & recording.
  2. Find Gong under Cloud recording sources.
  3. Open the Gong connection settings.
  4. Click Disconnect.
  5. Confirm the disconnection.

Rocketlane will stop retrieving new recordings from Gong. Recordings that were retrieved before the disconnection remain available in Rocketlane.

If your organization also needs to revoke Rocketlane's authorization within Gong, remove or revoke the Rocketlane application from the appropriate Gong administrator settings.

Troubleshooting

A Gong call is not appearing in Rocketlane

Verify that:

  • The call was successfully recorded and is available in Gong.
  • The Gong integration is still connected in Rocketlane.
  • The connected Gong account permits access to the relevant call.
  • The call has finished processing in Gong.
  • The call falls within any applicable retrieval or historical-sync period.

A Gong call was captured but was not associated with a customer

Check whether:

  • The customer's contacts have been added to Rocketlane.
  • The call participant emails use the expected customer domain.
  • The customer's website URL is present on its company record.
  • Multiple companies use the same domain or have similar names.

Rocketlane leaves a meeting unassociated when it cannot identify one company confidently. The meeting page remains available.

Calls from a Specific Gong User Are Missing

Check whether:

  • The user's calls are being recorded in Gong.
  • The connected Gong administrator can access those calls.
  • The user belongs to the expected Gong workspace or account configuration.
  • The calls have completed processing and are available through Gong.
