Adding an attachment to a Task
Let's begin with seeing how we can add attachments to a task and preview them.
Go to the task and click on 'Add attachment' and choose the image.
You can preview the image by clicking on it. To add annotations, click on the Annotate button.
Basic Image Annotation Options
You can annotate images by highlighting certain parts of it or by adding a comment to the image.
Note: The highlight options including arrow, rectangle and freehand are always accompanied by a comment. All these comments will be added to the comments section in the right panel.
- View
This is the default tab which allows you to view the current state of the image. - Comment
The comment option allows you to add a comment to your image. Type your comment in the text box and click Add to add the comment. Click on Cancel to delete the comment.
You can mark your comment as shared or as private by clicking on the eye icon.
Private Comments: Private comments will only be visible to members of your team and not your customers team.
Shared Comments: Shared comments will be visible to all the members of the project including the customers you have added. - Arrow
The arrow option allows you to add a resizable arrow to your image to highlight certain parts. Add a comment to the arrow as annotation feedback. Click Add from the dialog box to add the annotation. - Rectangle
The Rectangle option allows you to add a resizable rectangle to your image. Add a comment to the rectangle as annotation feedback. Click Add from the dialog box to add the annotation. - Freehand
The freehand option allows you to create drawings freely. Add a comment to the rectangle as annotation feedback. Click Add from the dialog box to add the annotation. - Colour
The colour option lets you pick a colour for the annotation options like Arrow, Rectangle, Freehand and Comment. - Zoom to fit
Fit your image in the viewing window using the 'Zoom to fit' option. - Zoom in
Zoom into the image to help with annotations. - Zoom out
Zoom out of the image to help with annotations. - Rotate clockwise
Rotate the image clockwise. - Show/ Hide annotations
Switch between viewing the actual image vs the image with annotations.
Versions
The versioning functionality allows you add different versions to the same attachment thread. Adding versions allows you to compare two different versions side by side or in overlay mode for you to draw better comparisons. This is especially helpful in situations while proofing documents or creatives.
Click on the Versions icon from the menu bar on the top right to view the Version History panel on the left side of the screen.
Adding a version
For adding a new version of your attachment, click on the 'New version' button from the Version History panel on the left and browse for image files or pdfs to upload.
Version History
You can view all the versions from the version history panel on the left. The versions get a number starting from one and are numbered in the order in which they are added.
You can view a log of deleted versions also from the version history panel, so it maintains the numbering and track record of how many versions have been updated.
Deleting a version
From the version history panel on the left, you will see thumbnails of all the versions. From the thumbnail of a version, click on 'More actions' icon and select Delete.
A log of the deleted version will be maintained under Version History for future reference.
Current Version
The current version is the thumbnail you see in the task when you preview the attachment. The current version is also the default version for comparison, when you choose to compare versions.
You can mark any version as the current version by clicking on More actions > Make current version from the version's thumbnail under Version History.
Comparing Versions
You can compare two versions by clicking on 'Compare with version' from the menu options available on the top of the screen. You can choose to compare the version you are currently viewing with any version on the list by selecting that version. By default the version you are currently viewing will be selected.
Note: You can change the version later when you are in the Version Comparison view from the bottom of the screen.
You can also compare a version with the version you are currently viewing by clicking on More actions > Compare with version from the version thumbnail.
Version Comparison Views
Side by Side View
You can view the two versions being compared in a side by side way so that it is easier to compare differences and suggest better reviews.
Linking Views
You can click on the link icon from the bottom of the screen and the two versions will be synced for the zoom to fit, zoom in, zoom out and rotate clockwise options. This means that when you use any of these options on one version, the second will also show the same behaviour.
The 'Show/ hide annotations' and all other annotation options can only be used for individual versions.
Overlay View
The Overlay view allows you to overlay an image on the other for comparing versions better.
You can hold and drag the slider available horizontally sideways.
Show/ Hide comments section
You can view the comments section for both the versions being compared by clicking on the show/hide comments section icon in the Version comparison view.
You can choose which version you want to see the comments for or you can click on the annotation in a version and the related comments will be reflected in the comments section.
Exit Comparison
You can go out of the comparison view by clicking on Exit comparison button from the top right corner of the screen.
Hide/ Show Comments Section
You can add comments to your versions by selecting the Comment option. All the comments you add as a part of the Arrow, Rectangle and Freehand annotation options also gets reflected as a part of the comments section.
You can reveal or hide the comment section for a version by clicking on the 'Show/ Hide comment section' button.
Resolving Comment Threads
You can resolve a comment thread once the feedback has been incorporated by you by clicking on the 'Resolve Thread' option from the comment thread.
Note: Once the comment is resolved, the corresponding annotation in the image will also be removed.
Showing and Hiding Resolved Comments
You can revisit resolved comments by clicking on 'Show resolved comments'.
The resolved ones will also appear as a part of the Comments section with a green tick against them.
Click on 'Hide resolved comments' to only see unresolved comment threads.
Copy link to Clipboard
You can copy the link to the version you are currently viewing and share it with your team members. Click on the 'Copy link' icon and paste the link in your conversations.
Download Image
You can download the image you are currently viewing by going to More actions > Download image from the top right side of the screen.
Open Parent Task
You can go to the parent task of the attachment's versions you are currently viewing by going to 'More actions' > 'Open parent task' from the top right side of the screen.
Annotation Logs
You can view the annotation logs from the Conversations tab in the parent task window. The tab records any new versions added or annotations made to an attachment with a timestamp.
You can even click on a log record and view an annotation or a version update.
